    Asan Pinnacle Land

    June 20, 2016 /

We’ve driven past Pinnacle Land more times than I can count, but there is nothing interesting about it from the road so we never stopped. It’s simple not marketed in a manner that stands out to foreigners. However, since I’m dedicated to knowing everything there is to do in and near Pyeongtaek, I finally had to go check it out. Like everything I’ve done so far in Korea (except a super weird Alice In Wonderland Park I once visited), Pinnacle Land turned out much cooler than I thought it was…

    Be The Light

    May 25, 2016 /

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the fact most foreigners in this area come for a hot minute, feel overwhelmed with culture shock for 12 months, get angry about how everything isn’t like home, and then are off too the thing.  Living here isn’t life for most people, it’s a marathon of experiences that leave them spinning right round, right round baby… and they don’t realize that- despite their short stay- they leave a path of either destruction or grown in their wake. Which brings me to this point…

    Japanese Ramen

    May 3, 2016 /

Leave your own review on www.MollaKorea.com. Just: Click Here Although I’ve been to Japan, I’ve never been there with any money (long story for another time). This means I’ve never had authentic Japanese ramen in Japan. Sure I’ve tried a few random places in Korea, but nothing really stood out until I found this place in Pyeongtaek. It was delicious. A place I would go out of my way to eat at for sure. Now, I’m not telling you this is 100% authentic, because I don’t know what that even…

5 More Things to do in Pyeongtaek: Water Edition

    April 27, 2016 /

With summer coming quickly, it seems like a good time to post another 5 Things To do in Pyeongtaek blog since the last one was quite popular and there are plenty more things to do in the area. Just so you know, my taste in activities tends to lean toward the active and the outdoorsy and this list won’t be any different. So grab your sunblock and let’s go hit some water based outdoor activities in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. Seonggumi Hang Light, Dangjin, September 2008 Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs Office…

Southern BBQ at the Songtan Pink Carts

    April 12, 2016 /

As an Alaskan I’m a sucker for folks who step out of their comfort zone and take a risk on a dream, especially when they are doing it off the beaten track. It’s a little something we call The Frontier Spirit, so when I found jps_bbq on Instagram a few months ago I knew I needed to track them down. For a while they were doing nights at the O’lounge Comedy Club near Osan Base but I always seemed to see the announcement too late. A few weeks ago they…

Traveling across South Korea this summer? Here are 5 water parks to cut the heat this summer. Updated: July 2022 About Summer in Korea Summer is just around the corner and things are going to be seriously heating up. February 29, 2016 /

Leave your own review on www.Mollakorea.com. Just: Click Here Although I eat here all the time I don’t have a lot of great pictures because I’m too busy stuffing all the food in my face. It’s so friggen good.  The restaurant is very nondescript. When I first tried it five years ago I thought it would be boring and I only tried it because it was close to work and served noodles, I never expected it to be so addictive or rich in flavor. Now I crave it all year…

    4 Fav Coffee Roasters

    February 23, 2016 /

Coffee lovers rejoice! There are four lovely micro-roasters in Pyeongtaek. Each one a little different than the next. Since each coffee addict has their own unique pallet, we wont try to tell you which one is best. We can say that we have tried each of these and found them to be solid depending on different preferences. It might also be good to know that, in Korea, a large number of the beans are sourced from Ethiopia and other parts of Africa. The flavor tends to be more acidic and…

    Cafe CF

    December 10, 2015 /

Have you always wanted to find a desert cafe where everything looks as good as (or better than) the pictures? Well, we found it.  Cafe CF in Songtan (main street in front of base, across from the bank) has amazing, giant desserts that are a feast for your eyes and your belly.  Don’t come here if you aren’t ready to gorge yourself on sugar. To make it easier to order, they even have photo menus where you can see what each desert looks like. Usually these types of things leave…
