Ceviche 210
한국어로 쓴 블로그도 있어요L: blog.daum.net/southofseoul Update: August 2018 and we are still in love with this place. Goodness, where do I start. About a week or two ago I posted some photos from Sabor Peruano, which is a Peruvian restaurant in Songtan that I’ve enjoyed for years. It was always a lovely break from what was a mostly Korean diet. Still, I’ve only gone a few times a year for reasons I can’t quite put my finger on. Even though I always enjoy it and I love South American food, I’m…

Grab a Thread and Pull
Some of you who follow this blog, or my Facebook Page, or the Instagram, or even my semi-sad twitter feed might be asking, “What makes your stupid opinion matter so much?” My answer is simple, “Absolutely nothing.” I am entirely unremarkable. This isn’t something I started doing because I wanted to wow folks with my mad skills and be a super star. I just happen to do a crap-ton of stuff and folks started coming to me for information. Eventually writing the same emails again and again took up too…

Dr Yoo Chinese Take Out
When Dr Yoo’s Korean restaurant announced they were offering Chinese take-out I wasn’t very inspired to try it. Just being honest. When restaurants decide the are going to offer something completely different than what they do in order to meet market demand, it’s usually a complete train wreck I don’t want to get involved in. Plus, Chinese food in Korea is often the worst. However, after a while, the word on the street was solid enough I decided to go give it a try. Peer pressure totally works on me.…

Zip (delicious meat near AK Plaza)
For years now, I’ve been looking for a samgyeupsal restaurant near AK Plaza that made me want to come back. I’m not saying I haven’t eaten meat downtown town and thought it was fine, but none made me dream of a return trip. (Yup, I’m a meat snob now. I never even saw it coming.) Not until now. Which is why taking a vacation is so important. With more time to meet up with friends and just chill out, I found the motivation to give the city center one more…

5 Fav Restaurants Near Osan Main Gate
Lately the biggest, hottest new restaurants have been going in near Camp Humphreys and it’s been amazeballs, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t lovely places near Osan Air Force Base. Here are my top five favorites. These are in no particular order, just my fav 5. Loco Tacos – CLOSED Loco Tacos Click Here for Address & Molla Listing These Baja style tacos are light and refreshing. We go here on an embarrassingly regular basis. My favorite are the shrimp and fish tacos, but my partner in crime loves the…

The Big Bite
Quite frankly, because The Big Bite advertises themselves as a family style restaurant I’ve been avoiding eating there. Usually, at these type of places, there is nothing on the menu that I’m interested in and I only eat there out of obligation to try the place. However, I’d seen that they had a Caesar salad so I decided to just see what kind of craziness would ensue. Despite my negative attitude, The Big Bite was a pleasant surprise. We ended up not only trying the Chicken Caesar, but also the…

연암공원 Suwon Park
During a recent bike ride around Suwon, we most likely broke many rules, despite the fact we were making our best effort to go by them. So I’m going to begin this recommendation by stating, I don’t know if we were supposed to be riding our bikes here. We had avoided going a few places that specifically said no bikes, but the trails we used to access this park didn’t have signs that we noticed. We aren’t saying they weren’t there, we just didn’t notice them. Dogs Allowed Even though…

Suwon Lake
Whenever I can be near water or in water I am. It’s always been a big part of my life. In order to get more of it, this last weekend we decided to go checkout one of Suwon’s lakes in the middle of the city. We rented old bikes from the near the palace and road them through the city, along the river, through a park, and down to the waters edge. It was quite the adventure and took about an hour since it was our first trip and we…

상투방 Hike Near Yeonginsan Natural Forest
Next to/Around the ever so fancy Yeonginsan Natural Forest are plenty of hiking trails and views. This one, on the edge of the park has trail access from inside the park and outside so it can either be an all day event or a 30 minute, hearty hike. Just depends on what you are looking for. The trails aren’t easily routed on Naver, but the long hike begins in the lower parking lot below Yeonginsan Natural Forest. There is a trail that follows the road and another that…

Yeonginsan Natural Forest
Located about 30 minutes from Pyeongtaek is a gorgeous forest and mountain hiking area that isn’t overrun by people every moment of the year (but I’m sure it happens). The name is Yeonginsan Natural Forest and it’s one of the best places South of Seoul to go and get away from it all because it’s NOT on a subway stop. This gorgeous park can be a hard day of hiking (if you park at the lower free parking lot) or an easy day out with the kids on smooth paths…
