Where is Pyeongtaek?
Feel free to skip this section if you live in Pyeongtaek-si or know about the area. If not, you will see the Administrative District of Pyeongtaek-si (평택시) marked in blue on the map below.

It’s important to know that the name ‘Pyeongtaek’ refers to the larger Administrative District of Pyeongtaek-si (평택시) and the area near AK Plaza which includes Pyeongtaek-dong (평택동). Such a situation confuses many international residents within Pyeongtaek for years. For the purpose of this post, ‘Pyeongtaek’ refers to the Administrative District.
Pyeongtaek-si is located in the southern portion of the Gyeonggi-do province. Additionally, the city includes both US military installations, Camp Humphreys and Osan Air Base.
About This List
For this list, South of Seoul volunteers compiled Facebook Groups, South of Seoul Blog Lists, and South of Seoul app listings to direct you toward some of the top activities. This means you may be able to click on links and redirect to longer lists of specific places. We do this so that we can include as much information as possible in an easier-to-digest system.
Meaning of “Best”
The term ‘best’ has no intrinsic meaning. For the purposes of this post, ‘best’ refers to the activities most often recommended by the international community within Pyeongtaek. This could be recommendations by parents, teachers, single people, international students, etc. This means the list does not lean toward any particular ‘social lens’ or audience.
There is More to Do
This post does not include every last thing Pyeongtaek has to do. Instead, the list includes the most popular activities for foreigners over the last decade. Don’t feel limited by the list. Instead, it’s a stepping stone for connecting with the community to discover what else is out there!
