Discount Manga Book Store 만화 할인 매장
This is a post for the super nerds who love comics and Korean language. If you are a lover over the manga / manhwa style you are going to love this discount bookstore located a short walk from AK Plaza. There are sooooooooo many books as well as quite a few puzzles (random) and manga inspired toys and trinkets. Keep in mind, these books will be in Korean but it’s another great way to practice the language if you are learning. For whatever reason, this store name can’t be found…

Grab a Thread and Pull
Some of you who follow this blog, or my Facebook Page, or the Instagram, or even my semi-sad twitter feed might be asking, “What makes your stupid opinion matter so much?” My answer is simple, “Absolutely nothing.” I am entirely unremarkable. This isn’t something I started doing because I wanted to wow folks with my mad skills and be a super star. I just happen to do a crap-ton of stuff and folks started coming to me for information. Eventually writing the same emails again and again took up too…

Be The Light
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the fact most foreigners in this area come for a hot minute, feel overwhelmed with culture shock for 12 months, get angry about how everything isn’t like home, and then are off too the thing. Living here isn’t life for most people, it’s a marathon of experiences that leave them spinning right round, right round baby… and they don’t realize that- despite their short stay- they leave a path of either destruction or grown in their wake. Cafe CF
Have you always wanted to find a desert cafe where everything looks as good as (or better than) the pictures? Well, we found it. Cafe CF in Songtan (main street in front of base, across from the bank) has amazing, giant desserts that are a feast for your eyes and your belly. Don’t come here if you aren’t ready to gorge yourself on sugar. To make it easier to order, they even have photo menus where you can see what each desert looks like. Usually these types of things leave…

Review it Forward
This blog was created because I love living my expat life in Pyeongtaek. Love eating the food, doing the things, and going to the places. It’s also delightful to support my community and stay involved with the world around me. However, while typing away on my next novel I realized there is something you can do to support the blog. If you find South of Seoul enjoyable or useful in anyway, you can buy my novel Chasing Tales on Amazon. It just happens to be all about living the expat life, eating the food, drinking…

Anjung / Pyeongtaek Chili Cook Off
After a busy weekend of tests, Halloween, jjimjilbangs and friends we topped it off by attending the Chili Cook Off being held near Anjung-eup. Despite not actually attending the church, the BBQ’s, birthdays, Cook Offs and other intercultural events hosted by Deakwang Church of the Nazarene are a big part of our lives here in Pyeongtaek. We really enjoy the congregation and staff, many of whom have been close personal friends the entire time we have lived here. It’s a stable, supportive, and inclusive community. This particular Cook Off was…
