Jeongok Port in Hwaseong, South Korea
There are a few different ports where you can arrange yacht trips in Hwaseong. We will share 3 yacht tour companies operating out of Jeokguk Port in Hwaseong. You can easily find other yacht companies at other ports using a concierge service or hiring a travel planning company. We will cover this more at the end of the blog.
Jeokguk Port sits about 50 minutes south of Incheon and 40 minutes northwest of Pyeongtaek. This small port caters mostly to Korean tourism. We like to leave from this port because it reminds us of Korea we used to know. Due to this, almost nothing in this area will be translated into English. This is a Korean experience. Leave all your western expectations behind and be in the moment. Honestly, we get nostalgic when we visit Jeokgukhang.
You will find very few fancy western food options in the area. Plenty of Korean seafood dishes to fill your hungry belly instead. That said, the visitors center has a lovely cafe/restaurant with sweeping views and fusion food.
Also, you need to know there aren’t any great convenience stores near the port either. Arrive with everything that you need.
Parking can also be a bit hectic in the primary parking lot but there are side streets you can also park on without getting in trouble.
Yachting in South Korea
If you book a course trip within the port area you will likely never put up a sail. Instead, you will motor peacefully through a set course. It is a delightful and affordable experience that is fun to do with a group of friends. Many yacht companies may allow you to bring your drinks and food to enjoy together.
If you want a more substantial service, you can also book yacht reservations for longer trips such as picnics, fishing, or coordinating a unique date experience. Basically, it just depends on your budget and your dreams. Remember, things get more expensive the more specialized an experience you build. Customized experiences always mean more money because more time is being put into managing the experience.
Remember that this is Korean yachting. You will need to wear your life jacket. They may ask you to take off your shoes when using parts of the boat. There could be things you need to do that you didn’t expect. These are all normal things that happen in a new country. There will be cultural differences that surprise you and require you to manage your expectations. If you go knowing this you will have a great time! If you want to recreate an experience once that you had in another country then you may experience frustration and disappointment that Korea has its own culture.

Short course yacht trips of 90 minutes leaving from a port in Hwaseong at: 9:00 am 10:30 am 13:00 pm 14:30 pm 16:30 pm You need to book a spot in advance and arrive ready to board 30 minutes early for yacht safety and boarding. The address provided is for parking not the yacht company. You will likely meet your tour provider at the Visitor Center near the parking lot. These are powered tours. You will not be under sail even if on a sail boat.

How to book yacht trips in South Korea
This will be your biggest challenge. South of Seoul recommends using a tour company such as PlusPlanner or a concierge/assistant service such as Wonderful to coordinate your yacht trip. PlusPlanner does amazing group travel. They can book your buses, yachts, and places to stay easily. Wonderful will be great for planning dates and small groups under 6-10 who have their own transportation. You can certainly book it all on your own if you have that kind of confidence.
