The Pyeongteak International Exchange Foundation is launching something new with the support of Pyeongtaek City! As the area is changing rapidly, PIEF and Pyeongtaek City are looking for new ways to bring the area together and support the community. One of the new events they are launching this year is a “Community Carnival” which will be all about having fun and supporting local businesses and based on school carnivals or neighborhood carnivals in North America. The goal of the event is to support local and make people happy having fun together for an afternoon.

The event will be heavily promoted to both the foreign residents and local citizens and will be held in front of Pyeongtaek City Hall near Lotte Mart October 13th, 2018. South of Seoul will be helping with this since there is nothing we love more than promoting local!!!
Honestly folks, we talking directly to the foreign community right now, this is our chance to represent our neighborhoods, communities, and cultures while showing the larger Pyeongtaek community what we are about and how fun we are. South of Seoul has heard tons of people saying, “Why aren’t there any unique festivals in the area.” Well, this is your chance to make it happen. We know it’s a lot of work to do a festival like this and it’s a bit of short notice, but this is a huge chance to participate and create the type of events we miss from home. Pyeongtaek City is giving us a chance to show what we are about which hasn’t really been done before.
Vendors interested in participating will be given 300,000 won (paid after the festival) to provide free samples, game, or a fun activity for attendees. You just have to have a Korean ID and Korean bank account for the stipend to be deposited into. The businesses, craftspeople, or organization can then also sell something to help support themselves and promote their services. If you don’t want to give away free food do something like offering free games of horseshoes and let participants win gift certificates or discount coupons. Be creative. Oh, and there will also be interpreters on hand at the festival, but we recommend grabbing a Korean speaking friend to help you out.

South of Seoul is really excited about hopefully having games like ring tosses, shooting arrows, carnival balloon games, skee ball, horseshoes, darts, or any other fun, carnival activities. So please guys, let’s do this! We want to go play for a day!
It is EXTREMELY rare for Pyeongtaek City to create an event this that is super friendly to local, foreign business. Usually, it’s just for the Korean crowd. H
