About the National Parks in South Korea
The Korean National Park Service (KNPS) manages 21 national parks across South Korea and Jeju manages Hallasan. Eighteen of the South Korean national parks exist in mountainous regions and 3 exist near the sea. Each of the national parks offers opportunities for hiking, camping, and enjoying the natural beauty of South Korea.
Twelve of the South Korean national parks contain mountains known for their fall colors: Bukhansan, Seoraksan, Odaesan, Chiaksan, Woraksan, Songnisan, Palgongsan, Gayasan, Jirisan, Gyeryongsan, Naejangsan, Mudeungsan, plus Hallasan. The reason some parks are not known for their fall colors is that they don’t have many trees with leaves.
What makes this South Korean National Parks poster unique?
We have been looking up information about national parks in South Korea and fall colors in South Korea for over a decade. We wanted a map that combined this information in order to simplify our planning process. Also, we regularly forget which parks we have visited. We wanted a map that kept track of this little detail so that we make sure not to miss any parks. Finally, we wanted a map that lived in our lives and not online. After taking such things into consideration we created the map with the following features:
- The national park icons are coded: parks with mountains and fall colors, parks with mountains but limited fall colors, and coastal parks.
- The names of the parks are color-coded: orange parks are perfect for fall colors and the white parks are not.
- We added a tracking system: We can mark the white circle after visiting each park to track which ones we’ve visited.
How can I get one of these South Korean national parks maps?

We have no hard sell. We made this design for ourselves because we wanted it. We are super happy and excited to be able to share the design with you but we aren’t trying to side hustle. We just wanted to make this available to others who wanted it and we can’t give them away for free.
