Daiso is amazing. It has almost everything you need to live your daily life for less than 5,000 won. This is how most of us survive in Korea as ex-pats. Before you shop for things like yoga mats, pots and pans, and office supplies anywhere else – go here first.
Important note: Military members and families take note. The prices are far cheaper than what can be purchased on base with comparable quality.
Tips and tricks for shopping at Daiso
- Bags are not free. Remember to bring your reusable totes when you go shopping. If you don’t, you will have to pay for the bags there. Prices start at 50₩ for a smaller bag and go up as the size increases.
- The self checkout has an English option. Don’t be afraid to use the self checkout option if there is a line at the register. There is an English option that will walk you through the process.
- Scan the QR code. Use the handheld wand to scan the QR code. The traditional barcodes you see on some items will not scan.
