Each of the Korean BBQ recommendations is Galbi Restaurant
It’s quite interesting to note that the three most recommended restaurants near Osan Air Force Base in Pyeongtaek are Galbi restaurants. Galbi (갈비) means ribs. That means there are restaurants the specialize in rib dishes. They may serve chicken, beef, pork, or a mix of meats.
Just because it is a galbi restaurant does not mean that galbi is the only meat on the restaurant’s menu (although it might). Often times a galbi restaurant’s set menu options will include a mix of different types of meat cuts. Additionally, some of the meat might be marinated and others are marinated. The restaurant will serve you the non-marinated meats first and work toward the magical galbi. This might require a few grill changes so be prepared for that.
You should also be aware that galbi at Korean BBQ restaurants will usually have a sweet marinate (but not 100% of the time). Galbi marinate ingredients include such things as garlic, onion, soy sauce, honey/corn syrup, pepper paste, sesame, etc. This is important to note for anyone with allergies.
Galbi restaurants also tend to offer more unlimited banchan (Korean side dishes). You are sure to leave full and happy when you visit a galbi restaurant.
