About Taean-gun, South Korea
Taean County is in Chungcheongnam Province, or Chungcheongnam-do, and has a population of roughly 64,000. About Anmyeyondo, Taean-gun, South Korea
Anmyeondo (island), in the South of Taean, was originally a peninsula. During the Joseon Dynasty, Chief State Councilor Kim Yuk ordered the flooding of the area between Anmyeon and Nammyeon to protect tax sent to Hanyang (now Seoul) from plunder by Japanese pirates. In 1970, the Anmyeongyo bridge was constructed to connect the island to the mainland.
